Decor by Paula Mendes
One of my favorite stories involves a creative collaboration with my wife, Paula Mendes.
When I started flipping homes in Boston, I struggled to find a home staging company that matched my design vision. As a contractor and a home designer I know that Staging is a critical aspect of presenting a home, and it wasn’t something I wanted to compromise on. So, Paula and I decided to take matters into our own hands.
Paula had always had an eye for beauty and design. She had worked her way up to becoming a hair stylist at a high-end salon in Newton Massachusetts , but when our son was born, she decided to step away from her career to focus on being a full-time mom. Once our son started school, she found herself with some extra time, and that’s when we saw an opportunity for her to channel her creativity into staging our projects.
With her natural artistic talent, Paula began taking interior design courses and quickly developed a passion for home staging. She has a unique eye for vintage furniture and accessories, bringing a distinct, personal touch to each space. Her staging didn’t just complement our designs; it enhanced them, making our homes stand out in the market.
Though we eventually moved on to working with other staging companies due to the logistical challenges of inventory and storage, I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together during that time. Watching Paula’s creativity shine and knowing that she was willing to pause her career to support our family and our business was deeply inspiring. Paula continues to thrive as a personal stylist, but those days of home staging will always be a special part of our journey together.
